The Supreme Court of New Jersey created a special designation to identify attorneys who have demonstrated a level of competence in a particular area of law.

In order to be designated as a “certified” Civil Trial Attorney in the State of New Jersey, a trial attorney must:

1. Be a member of the New Jersey Bar in good standing for at least five years;

2. Have taken a specific number and type of continuing legal education courses; and

3. Take a specific number and type of continuing legal education courses on an ongoing basis; and

4. Demonstrate substantial present and historical involvement in the preparation of litigated matters; and

5. Demonstrate an unblemished reputation by submitting a list of attorneys and judges who will attest to their character and ability; and

6. Pass a written examination covering various aspects of practice in civil trial law.

Due to these rigorous requirements, only 2% of attorneys in the State of New Jersey hold a Civil Trial Certification. Mr. Bazzurro originally obtained his Civil Trial Board Certification in 2012 and has been re-certified twice thereafter by the Supreme Court of New Jersey.

Importantly, in addition to being part of a distinct group of attorneys who have been deemed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as competent in the area of civil trial practice, Civil Trial Attorneys are permitted to provide referral fees to other attorneys.

When you are represented by a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, you can be confident that the attorney has the proficient skill and knowledge to maximize your success in a civil trial setting.
